Overview |
The Iroquois Gas Transmission System is a limited partnership of four U.S. and Canadian energy companies or limited partnerships. The system includes a 416 mile (669 km) interstate natural gas pipeline that extends from the Canadian border at Waddington, New York, onward through New York State and western Connecticut, finally reaching its end point in the Bronx, New York.
The system began operations in 1992 and to this day fulfills its early promise of delivering a supply of safe, reliable natural gas to families and businesses in the many towns, cities and regions it passes through.
TransCanada effectively owns 13.7 percent of the Iroquois pipeline, through a 0.7 percent direct ownership and a 26.4 percent interest in TC PipeLines, LP.

Community outreach program
We take membership in our communities to heart. Our Community Outreach Program helps us direct financial support to charities and non-profits in the communities we serve.
$50,000 for the United Way Charitable Giving Campaign
In 2015, our annual week long activities in support of the United Way raised $50,000 – an amount raised both by our employees and our corporate match contributions.
Partnering with Nature Conservancy
Iroquois is a proud supporter of both the Connecticut and New York State chapters of the Nature Conservancy. We act as a corporate sponsor and partner with local chapters to fund for projects within our pipeline communities.
Helping protect duck wetlands
Thanks to a grant to Ducks Unlimited, this important leader in wetlands preservation was able to purchase an excavator that was used to restore 30 acres of tidal marsh in Connecticut’s Silver Sands State Park.

How are we regulated?
The Iroquois Gas Transmission System is is governed according to regulations outlined by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). It is also subject to rules and regulations of the Department of Energy administered by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, and the Environmental Protection Agency.
