Natural Gas Icon

Overview

The Line 8000 Replacement Project, part of TransCanada’s Columbia Gas Transmission Modernization Program, will replace approximately 13 miles (21 km) of existing 12-inch-diameter bare steel pipeline with new coated steel pipeline.

The proposed pipeline will include cathodic protection and alternating current mitigation to provide additional safety measures.

This important project is part of a wider modernization program that replaces existing infrastructure and upgrades natural gas compression systems to ensure our system's continued safety and reliability.

Documents and Maps

The Line 8000 Replacement Project, part of TransCanada’s Columbia Gas Transmission Modernization Program, will replace approximately 13 miles (21 km) of existing 12-inch-diameter bare steel pipeline with new coated steel pipeline.

In October 2017, an informational open house was held for the Line 8000 Replacement Project, during which landowners and residents along the proposed route provided their questions and comments.

Some common themes include:

  • Impacts to existing gas taps;
  • Abandonment methods;
  • Stream and wetland crossing impacts;
  • Land Restoration process;
  • How will my property be affected?

These questions and concerns will be addressed in the Environmental Assessment issued by FERC.
